Why it matters

Why Private AI

Public AI infrastructure was built for speed of access, not for data control. Where data residency, security posture, and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable, a different approach is required.

Data Sovereignty

When you send inference requests to a third-party cloud AI provider, your data (prompts, documents, queries) traverses external networks and is processed on shared infrastructure. Even with contractual protections, you cannot fully control where data is processed, retained, or logged.

With Lucrion-engineered private infrastructure, inference happens on hardware you own, in a facility you control. No data leaves your network perimeter unless you explicitly route it out.

Regulatory Compliance

Regulatory frameworks are tightening around AI usage and data processing:

  • GDPR. Data processing must occur within defined legal boundaries. Cross-border transfers require adequate safeguards.
  • EU AI Act. High-risk AI system operators face obligations around transparency, logging, human oversight, and data governance, phasing in through 2026 and beyond.
  • DORA. Financial entities must manage third-party ICT risk, including AI providers, with contractual and technical controls.
  • NIS2. Operators of critical and important entities face tightened cyber-risk-management and incident-reporting duties.

We design infrastructure to be aligned with these frameworks: aware of the obligations and engineered to support them, not to certify you against them. Private infrastructure eliminates a significant class of third-party risk and simplifies the compliance case you have to make.

Performance

Shared cloud AI infrastructure delivers variable latency. During peak demand, response times increase, rate limits kick in, and compute is deprioritized. For production workloads such as internal search, document analysis, and real-time decision support, this unpredictability is a liability.

On-premise GPU clusters deliver deterministic, low-latency inference. You own the compute, so there's no contention, no throttling, and no surprise cost spikes from usage volume.
